Learn how to apply the principles of structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, hydraulics and hydrology, environmental engineering, materials, surveying and construction
From the world’s tallest buildings to the most spectacular bridges to airports, highways, hospitals and rail networks, civil engineers provide the critical infrastructure that make our world work.
They help build the structure of society, from roads and bridges to dams and airports, which improves the safety and welfare of people in that society.
It is a rewarding profession that combines planning and designing with hands-on project management out in the field. With this programme, you will learn to apply the principles of structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, hydraulics and hydrology, environmental engineering, materials, surveying and construction.
You will also discover the latest techniques and developments, such as low- carbon materials and sustainability. As part of hosting the University of Hertfordshire (UH), you will also have access to the university’s StudyNet web-based facility.
StudyNet allows students to access electronic teaching and learning resources from UH, and have electronic discussion’s with staff and other students.
• UH’s School of Engineering and Computer Science has over 50 years’ experience of teaching engineering and has established an excellent international reputation
• On-Campus Engineering Workshops for practical and hand-on work
• Project-orientated learning
• Learn to apply computer-aided engineering and industry-standard software
• UH students have previously completed work placement years at companies including Amazon, Bosch, Network Rail, Transport for London, Tesla Motors (UK), Aston Martin, BMW (UK), Mercedes-Benz (UK)
• Access to UH’s StudyNet system, communicate with UH professors directly on portal
• Opportunity to study abroad for one year to develop confidence, experience and practical language skills
A heavy emphasis is placed on theory and practice, and we have a policy of using industrial standard software wherever possible. Our students will also benefit from the use of state-of-the-art facilities and fully equipped laboratories and workshops.
Employment prospects for civil engineers are strong, both in Egypt, the UK and around the world.
Our graduates can go on to careers in multinational consultancies, as well as smaller design and project management companies, utility companies and the public sector.
